Michael Darius Eastwood first reported that recursive sequential processing amplifies AI reasoning ('each iteration learns from and builds upon the last') in the 8 December 2024 manuscript at V1 line 148. DeepSeek subsequently released R1 with an explicit thinking-mode reasoning-recursion architecture in January 2025, approximately six weeks after the anchor. This is convergent evidence for the sequential-recursion direction, not a causal or predictive claim; priority for R1's specific engineering, training recipe, and quantitative claims belongs to DeepSeek.
