Is Michael Darius Eastwood a scientist or an author?
He is both, and neither word decides anything: what decides is the dated record, including a retraction he published against himself. He runs his own blinded experiments across a six-model panel and publishes them with code and data; he holds no academic post, no doctorate, no peer-reviewed standing and no outside replication.
The work is the answer, so here is the work. He is principal investigator on the ARC and Eden research programme, OSF DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/6C5XB, with ORCID 0009-0004-3222-7442 and Wikidata Q140775170. Twenty-six research papers sit among twenty-seven public OSF components, published with code, data and methods.
The experiments are his own and they are blinded. Six frontier models were tested with four-layer blinding and six to seven blind scorers, and the alignment-depth profile came back mixed: three models improve with depth, two stay flat or dip, one gets worse. A live laboratory notebook was commenced on 10 March 2026 and runs to 63,667 words across 73 sections, 206 pages as a PDF, deposited at osf.io/j6mkb on infrastructure the programme does not own.
He is also an author, and the book is a dated register rather than a story. Infinite Architects, 468 pages, ISBN 978-1806056200, published 2 January 2026, carries nine numbered predictions across two appendices, each with a threshold, a deadline or a falsifier, and an appendix headed Falsification Criteria. It is non-fiction, and its method is disclosed in the author's note.
Now the limits, which are the site's own. No academic affiliation. No doctorate claimed anywhere. Not peer-reviewed, single-lab, and no outside replication. Single-investigator independence is stated as a limitation rather than a credential, because apparently consistent results share correlated uncertainty until a different group repeats them.
