Core definitions, today

ARC Principle. A composition law: capability is base intelligence amplified by recursion, U = I × g(R), with the coupling β measured from data. Not a safety claim and not a measured constant. Precise form.

ARC Bound. The proposed stability ceiling on self-correctable capability scaling: the ceiling is the reciprocal of the cap on how well any internal corrector can scale, and on the same-class independence assumption (that internally accumulated corrections combine like independent samples) that cap comes out at one half, so the ceiling comes out at α ≤ 2. A stable limit, not a hard ceiling and not a universal growth limit; a scaling limit on how much growth self-correction can carry, not a speed limit in time. Crossable, but the framework predicts a system that crosses it loses guaranteed internal self-correction. Refuted by a sustained supercritical system that does not destabilise. Precise form.

The β > k criterion. Paper X's operative safety quantity: under accelerating self-improvement, the misalignment fraction vanishes if and only if the correction exponent β exceeds the drift-acceleration exponent k. Precise form.
