Independent coverage register
This register lists coverage of the researcher, the programme or the book that was initiated by others: a piece a venue chose to run, a review a critic chose to write, a citation an independent researcher chose to make. Self-published material, arranged placements and outbound correspondence never qualify, whatever their venue.
Current state
The register is empty. No independent coverage of the research programme exists yet, and this page says so plainly rather than implying otherwise. The music-industry record placed clients in named venues; that was coverage of the clients, and it does not belong here.
Why an empty register is published
The same reason the corrections log is published: a record that only appears once it is flattering is marketing. This register exists from before the first entry so that when coverage occurs it is recorded with its date, its venue, a link and an archived copy, and so that the absence of coverage is a stated fact rather than a gap a reader has to notice. The machine-readable register is at independent-coverage.json.
What would be listed
- press or broadcast coverage initiated by the venue;
- reviews of the book in identifiable independent venues;
- citations of the papers by independent researchers;
- substantive third-party analysis of the programme, favourable or not: critical coverage qualifies on the same terms as favourable coverage.
