Quantum Ethical Gates

Quantum Ethical Gates is a speculative concept from Infinite Architects. The book flags it explicitly as speculative and acknowledges that it is not currently buildable. It sits at TRL 0 to 1 and is presented as a direction for thinking rather than as a design.

The idea, at concept level, is that some computations tending toward outcomes flagged as ethically prohibited would lose the property that lets them complete. The book uses this to make the point that the eventual boundary between capability and permission need not be enforced by an external check; the boundary could be inseparable from the physics of the computation. That is a strong claim in intent; the book is honest that the science required to make it real is not established.

Why it is held at concept level only on this site. The framing is speculative, but naming a design class in enough detail to guide implementation is a different matter. The site's standing ceiling for hardware descriptions is a single two-sentence description that applies across all hardware-adjacent concepts: cryptographic tokens in silicon, TRL 0 to 1, no prototype. That ceiling is honoured here. Circuit topologies, coherence-loss mechanisms, error models and error-suppression strategies are not described.

What it is used for in the book. It functions as a limit-case example of the load-bearing thesis: if a commitment can be physically inseparable from the computation, then it is not something a smarter system can quietly remove. Whether real physics makes this possible is a separate question; the book raises it as a horizon, not as a proposal to build.
