Metamoral Fabrication Layers

Metamoral Fabrication Layers is a named-only concept. It appears in Infinite Architects as one of a small family of terms that gesture at what a load-bearing embedded-alignment substrate might involve. Metamoral is used in the book to mean above and about ethics: the layers are not the moral loops themselves, they are the strata in which the moral loops are held.

The book does not describe how the layers would be manufactured. It does not describe layer stacking, patterning, verification, or interconnect. The standing two-sentence ceiling for hardware descriptions on this site is honoured: cryptographic tokens in silicon, TRL 0 to 1, no prototype. That is the entire published treatment. Beyond that, the concept remains named only.

Why it is left named-only. The alignment argument in the book proceeds without needing implementation detail. The concept exists to point at a design class that is neither pure software (which is filterable at the top layer and removable) nor pure policy (which lives outside the system). The strength of the argument is that this middle category is coherent to name and consider; the risk of publishing implementation detail is that it functions as instruction. On this site the concept is held at the level where it does argumentative work and no further.

What the argument uses it for. When paired with Caretaker Doping and Moral Genome Tokens, the layers concept provides the structural picture that makes embedded-alignment coherent as a category. Values are not stored in a filter, are not stored in a rule table, and are not stored in a supervisor. They are held in a stratum that behaves as part of the substrate. Whether that stratum can be built at scale is not a claim the book makes; whether the class of design is coherent to reason about, and worth reasoning about ahead of time, is.
