What happened

Pope Leo XIV first encyclical 'Magnifica Humanitas': Babel vs Jerusalem civilisational fork for AI.

Why it is in the register

The first papal encyclical devoted to artificial intelligence organised its argument around a civilisational fork between Babel and Jerusalem: technology as a tower of power or as a community of care. The book had built its central moral architecture on Babylon against Eden, published thirteen months before the encyclical, with 106 Babylon references in the April 2025 manuscript. Same biblical source, same fork, same application to AI. No citation in either direction, no claim of influence, and none needed: two unconnected authors reaching for the same scriptural structure to frame the same technology is the convergence.

How to check this entry

Open the primary source above. Confirm the date. Confirm the finding. Then compare it against the manuscript passage or artifact named in the register entry, whose SHA-256 hash is published on the evidence page. Nothing in this article asks for trust; the entry either survives that comparison or it comes off the register, publicly, the way the programme's retracted scaling figure did.
